Infographic: Baby boomers and remodeling

Bathrooms and kitchens are the leading targets for baby-boomer remodeling.

That’s one of the findings of a study of the home improvement of baby boomers, conducted by The Hartford Center for Mature Market Excellence and the University of Southern California’s Davis School of Gerontology.

The Infographic below includes some other interesting highlights:

  • 40% of boomers intend to remodel in the future, and 28% of boomers intend to remodel in the next two years;
  • Among boomers planning to remodel, 21% say the remodeling will address a health or aging issue;
  • Bathrooms (56%) and kitchens (50%) are the most likely areas of remodeling; and
  • 75% of boomers like the idea of pullout drawers in cabinets.

The survey was part of The Hartford’s program “Remodeling Today for a Better Tomorrow”.
